Mühlbauer Group was formed in May 1998, from what was originally a one-man-business, founded in 1981 by Josef Mühlbauer. The Mühlbauer Group can look back on a history of almost 30 years marked by pioneering achievements in mechanical engineering and plant construction. Today, the Mühlbauer Group is the leading system partner and technology provider for the implementation of innovative ID projects with more than 2,400 employees and state-of-the-art technology centers on all continents important to Mühlbauer as well as an international sales and service network.

As the only company worldwide - Mühlbauer provides the complete technology and know-how transfer to its customers from one single source concerning digital security and intelligent identification in its core business line Cards & TECURITY® - ranging from data enrollment, production of innovative ID documents such as ID cards and ePassports including personalization to fully automatic access control. The market segment - referred to as TECURITY® by the globally active, independent manufacturer and consultant - benefits from Mühlbauer's experience from more than 300 ID projects worldwide. Major customers as regards this technology and software portfolio are - besides customers from the card industry - government-related organizations and authorities.

As the world's leading company for contactless identification of goods and flows of goods - Mühlbauer provides the complete Smart Label Factory in his business line Semiconductor Related Products for the production and personalization of RFID inlays as well as the subsequent processing (converting) as Smart Label for the textile, security and retail industries and public utilities. The basis of Mühlbauer's technology platform is its specialization in challenging automation processes as well as processing of particularly small, extremely thin components and semiconductors. Against this backdrop, the company develops and manufactures innovative systems for special niche applications in the semiconductor backend sector. For the identification of electronic components and assemblies, Mühlbauer develops and manufactures labeling and marking systems to trace components for the automotive and electrical industry. Furthermore, Mühlbauer uses its competence for developing state-of-the-art production concepts in the flexible solar thin film technology sector.

To meet high expectations as regards quality and precision, Mühlbauer manufactures high-precision parts at two independent manufacturing centers in Germany as well as at its Slovak technology center in the business line Precision Parts & Systems. Due to its longstanding manufacturing competence, the company not only supports the sale of its own high-quality products but also that of industries sensitive towards security technology issues, such as the aerospace, motor sports and medical technology industry.
